Today we congratulate Pandora and her baby boy for ending their homeless situation. After we built a budget with her and she was able to find a rental that fit this budget, we were happy to pay their security deposit so they could move in. We will soon be providing this single mother essential household goods and furniture so they can their new rental into a real home. Read Pandora’s story below:
Due to a domestic violence situation I was forced to leave the home I had with my baby. We went through an eviction. My son has Down Syndrome. And had surgery as well as on top of special needs. It has made it beyond difficult to find a job with my situation. I found myself unable to turn to relatives or friends as they wanted no part of the issues with the domestic violence and court issue that have arisen from it all. I found myself homeless and in my car. And money that went on hotels ran out fast. I was sinking deeper. Unable to pull myself out. My son needs a stable roof over his head. He needs to feel safe as well as comfortable. I even found myself getting numerous doors closed in my face from shelters. The domestic violence situation did not go well with some. The Down Syndrome was not accepted at some. And the fact that I am taking him to constant therapies Mon-Sat left me no hours to meet their requirements. I felt myself falling into depression. We have been living in duffle bags for months. And have not been able to celebrate any holiday for almost 2 years. That’s almost all my son’s life. I am believing that this program will give me the stepping stone to get me on stable ground. And have a roof over our heads. I still have many court dates. But this is my main concern as it is hard to stay focused and driven n anything else when in the back of your mind your thinking of the next location you will sleep in. I am educated.Well spoken. Do not drink at all. And am a mother 24/7 to my son. Even involved in Church. My only outreach. My son never leaves my side. We just fell on very hard times. I pray that I am accepted in the program and that you help me give my son a fighting chance in this world. He has just begun to live hi life. I owe him the world and will continue to do everything in my power to help him not just health Wie but in every aspect if life. I thank you for your time and consideration.
